On 13 October 2026, Mert Döküm welcomed industry professionals to Sheraton Grand Atasehir for our Rainwater Management and Drainage Systems event, held as part of our Building Technologies Gathering.
The event brought together technical knowledge and practical perspectives, focusing on drainage design, product selection and application. It was also an opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange experiences and strengthen professional relationships.
From Design to Application
Dr. Sevda Duygu Kolbay contributed to the programme with a technical presentation on Surface Water Drainage Systems, exploring three closely connected themes: design, product selection and application.
The presentation addressed the importance of selecting appropriate load classes for different application areas and coordinating surface levels, slopes and drainage collection points. These considerations were presented as essential elements of a properly designed and implemented drainage system.
Capacity calculations and long-term maintenance were also important topics. The presentation examined the consequences of both insufficient and unnecessarily oversized systems, alongside the role of regular inspection and cleaning in maintaining drainage performance.
Looking beyond water removal alone, the programme also explored retaining and infiltrating rainwater where conditions permit, together with rainwater harvesting as part of a broader approach to water management.
Engineering Support Beyond the Product
Mert Döküm’s presentation introduced our R&D activities and supporting services, including physical testing and project-specific design examples. These highlighted the engineering work behind our products and the importance of addressing individual project requirements.
The presentation also featured MertFlow, Debimatik, CAD blocks, application details, technical specification support and BIM family files, introducing resources available to support project design and implementation.

Alongside the technical presentations, the gathering provided an opportunity for participants to meet, exchange professional experiences and discuss shared interests.
